Draws real gravity pipes from destination-coded as-built shots ("SSMH INV TO MH 3"): the last step of the field-to-finish chain:
VDCBUILDSTRUCTS creates the structures, VDCSETINVERTS loads them, this connects them.

Structures + created pipe
Skips & cautions
What it does
- Parsing: an invert code (INV/IE/PI/SEI/SEO/DRI, editable) + the keyword (default
TO) + a name, all word-boundary matched against the RAW description. - Reciprocal pairing: two shots naming each other fold into ONE pipe with both field inverts; the second shot lands in the skipped list saying so.
- Conservative: unmatched names, ambiguity, self-references, and already-connected pairs all skip with reasons, nothing is guessed.
Settings & options
- Match radius (10' default) pairs the shot with its source structure; destinations are matched drawing-wide, the far manhole is usually outside the picked window.
- One pipe family/size per run (drop-downs); the pipe joins the source structure's network; sizes aren't parsed from descriptions in this version.
- Settings:
%APPDATA%\VDC\AsBuilt\buildpipes.json(VDC_BUILDPIPES_SETTINGS). CSV:<drawing> - Build Pipes.csv.

VDCBUILDPIPES
VDCBUILDPIPESWhen to use it
- The as-built chain's last step: VDCBUILDSTRUCTS created the structures, VDCSETINVERTS loaded them, and the pipes are still missing.
- The survey crew coded destinations in the field and drawing each pipe by hand is the alternative.
- Record-drawing conversions where the pipe connectivity lives only in the point file.
How to run it
- Run VDCBUILDPIPES - check the invert codes, the TO keyword, the match radius, the fallback slope, and the pipe family/size. OK - Pick Windows.
- Window the surveyed area (shots inside; destinations are found drawing-wide).
- Review the preview: from / to / network / length / both inverts and whether the far invert came from a reciprocal shot or the slope fallback. Untick any row; Apply Checked.
- Keep windowing; Esc finishes. Then run VDCPIPEQC on the result.
Options
- Destination matching: names normalize (case/spaces/dashes ignored); exact match wins, else a UNIQUE suffix match - ambiguity is skipped WITH the candidate list rather than guessed.
- Reciprocal pairing: two shots that name each other make one pipe with both field inverts - the second shot lands in the skipped list saying so.
- Fallback slope: used for the far invert when no reciprocal shot exists (default 0.4%).
- Duplicate guard: a pipe already connecting the pair is never doubled - re-runs are safe.
Watch out for
- Name discipline is everything: "TO MH 3" only works when exactly one structure name ends in MH-3 - rename structures (or fix descriptions) before fighting the ambiguity skips.
- The pipe joins the SOURCE structure's network - crossing-network runs need a hand check.
- Sizes/materials aren't parsed from the description in this version - one pipe family/size per run; resize afterward.
- Gravity networks only.
